Litigation Advisory Services
Case Reviews. This service is for parties involved in pending litigation matters. In consultation with the client, the process involves a review of the docket and a selection of existing case materials from the outside litigation team. After an independent review, a briefing on the matter, and an in-person or virtual session with the in-house team and primary members of the outside litigation team, Jim provides a tailored assessment and recommendations for handling the matter in the most effective and efficient way possible. Court Appointments
Jim has served as a court-appointed Special Master and Receiver in addition to serving as counsel to a Receiver.
The firm represents clients in connection with business filings, including the formation of business entities such as limited liability companies and corporations.
Chris previously served for several years as in-house counsel for the Business Services Division at the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office, which receives and approves business filings for Ohio and out-of-state business entities.
Arbitration and Mediation
Jim conducts arbitrations and mediations and is a member of the American Arbitration Association® National Roster of Arbitrators (Commercial Panel) and the AAA® Panel of Mediators.
Jim brings to bear his experience as a former United States Magistrate Judge and as a trial attorney for a large international law firm, where he led the firm’s litigation practice worldwide.
Commercial Agreements
The firm represents clients in the review, negotiation, and drafting of a variety of commercial agreements, applying its transactional and commercial litigation experience, including experience in contract disputes.
Recent engagements have involved agreements concerning executive compensation, senior-level employment agreements, senior-level third-party agreements (e.g., non-disclosure and consulting), and website development.
Public Records Requests
The firm represents clients in connection with public records requests.
Chris previously served for several years as the Ohio Secretary of State’s in-house counsel for public records requests. In that role, he coordinated the office’s responses to such requests, which often involved election-related issues.
