Jim’s recognized leadership skills grow out of his various leadership positions, his service as a judge, and his own consistent and focused personal development through further formal and informal education.

Available and Customizable Programs

Jim has created a series of professional development programs for clients in all types of professional settings. He is also a frequent presenter for gender and diversity-based groups and initiatives. These programs are available off-the-shelf, but can also be customized based on specific needs or topics of interest. Programs are suitable for professionals at all levels.

Leadership Principles

This leadership program is designed to offer a mix of conceptual leadership components and specific, tactical components. On the conceptual side, the program includes sessions focused on leadership principles including effective leadership skills and development. On the specific, tactical side, the program includes sessions focused on time management, managing and leading meetings, difficult conversations and effectively managing oneself.

Meetings & Presentations

This program is designed for anyone responsible for planning and leading meetings and presentations for professional teams, whether they are “standing” weekly or monthly meetings or one-time strategic sessions.

Active Career Management

This program focuses on long-term career planning and risk taking. It also emphasizes the importance of focusing on individual planning and implementing a plan to achieve short-, mid- and long-term goals with an emphasis on practical tools to achieve those goals.

Time Management

This program is designed as a two or three-hour continuing legal education (CLE) program that includes ethics and professionalism credits (subject to each state’s criteria). It has been presented as a stand-alone “open” CLE program and as an “in house” company-sponsored program limited to the sponsor’s employees and professionals. This program can also be presented as a stand-alone program without the CLE component.

Leaders & Difficult Conversations

This leadership program is designed to offer specific, tactical and practical guidance for dealing with “difficult conversations” along the complete spectrum, from performance improvement to termination.

Professional Coaching

Professional coaching services are also available for a limited number of coaching clients. Standard engagements include a “short-term” program for specific areas of improvement, a “long-term” program for senior-level professionals who are looking for a client-directed program, an “aspiring professional” category for newly-minted professionals (0 to 5 years) looking for mentoring outside of their employment setting, and a “career transition” program for senior-level professionals working through a significant career change, lateral or otherwise.
